Permissions Table #
A user has one of three access levels to a document or folder: viewer, editor, or owner.
Permission | File Type | Allows |
---|---|---|
Viewer | Folder | Can open the folder and see the files and folders inside it. Can see the aggregate analysis for any documents in the folder that the user has “Viewer” permission or greater on. Cascades “Viewer” permission to the folder’s contents |
Viewer | Document | Can view the document, see its version history, see the document’s shared users and permissions, run analysis on the document, and view dismissed suggestions |
Editor | Folder | Can rename the folder and create documents and folders in it. Cascades “Editor” permission to the folder’s contents |
Editor | Document | Can rename and edit the document, see and restore versions, modify the document’s shared users and permissions, run analysis, and add and remove dismissed suggestions |
Owner | Folder | Everything in “Editor” and “Viewer” plus the ability to trash and permanently delete the folder and its contents owned by the user |
Owner | Document | Everything in “Editor” and “Viewer” plus the ability to trash and permanently delete the document |
